I don't know anything about Surge milkers and was wondering on the pipeline milkers how long did they make the electric polsaiter control that had a motor and cam. Also did they make weigh jars for there pipeline. There desighns seem diffrent then De Laval and there does not seem to much information on them. Does anyone of any lititure from the 50's, 60's or 70's they could post showing the pipline setup and other pictures?

IHDairy, if you are refering to a type of milking machine pulsator that is shaft driven by an electric motor or by belts off the vacuum pump, with cams your probably refering to "slide pulsators" You can still get them new if you want to, put them on a De Laval plant, you will like them but your De Laval dealer won't!

When i started to learn about Surge in the mid 80's the motor/cam setup was already obsoleted and replaced with a solid state control (12V)Only ever saw mebbe two of them working in 20 yrs working in a 5 county area NE Pa. This at a time when Surge was going to all solid state double 24V setup. My recollection is a motor with several cams, incorporating adjustable ramps for milk/rest ratio. My recollection of DeLaval was a simple cam with set of points no adjustment capabilities.
Try to find a Westfalia/Surge dealer with some old books.
Your cows will do better with the new(er) technology pulsation. Even the (now old) 80's was better than what you are working with.

Can't realy answer the first question other than to say you don't really want anything other than solid state pulsation...
Meters... I don't think they ever had jars for pipelines unless you're talking about a parlour lowline. Around here at least, everybody used Wakato meters in the tiestall setups.

We have had De Laval cam pulsators a ;ong time ago. Latest is Westfalia electroic. If you need weigh jars. Got five stored away.

"Waikato"milk meters. As for pulsators, I would't use anything other than slides from Reid Industrial LTD.( I have a Waikato plant with Reid slide conversion, will never use electronic pulsators either!.)The Swanndri Guy.
