Thanks James/gitrib for posting!

I'm down there at OSU every couple of months for work. It sure is a nice campus.

I was down there a couple of days after the massive May 1999 twister hit OKC & areas north of town... It was amazing seeing all the damage and hearing all the stories...

All my co-workers down there had a collection of stories about that one... And after you see one up close and personal, clouds like that can really strike fear in you!

As a sample, here is a pic from it - that is on wikipedia:

A few years ago, I was at OSU for work when I got a call that we had tornadoes out here in the Panhandle. I didn't take these pics, but these are the tornadoes out our way that afternoon that demolished 30-40 (including two of ours) agricultural sprinklers similar to the sprinkler in the bottom picture... The really unusual thing was - there were two different storms that day several hours apart - each with tornadoes!

When I was 12 years old I was in a sideditch watching an F3 tornado go by about 1/2 mile away. We were coming home on the school bus and our driver was afraid it was going to flip over. He got us out and into the ditch away from the bus, but it did not go over and we had no damage at our location. The wind did suck papers and books out of the bus (he had us put the windows down). It was in Indiana on April 3 1974.

Todd,

Whereabouts in Indiana? I remember then. My mom was worried about my sister on her school bus. She will still tell you today that the tornado chased the school bus. That is one of my earliest memories. I was almost 4 at the time.

Several years ago, around Logan Iowa, some people got in the ditch, as instructed, because a tornado was approaching them. They were killed by a corn header which landed on them. I find it especially disappointing when one does as taught, and it does not help! Greg

I'm going to school and working here in Stillwater. Some friends and I are in a rent house about a mile east of campus and we just got heavy rain. This picture is looking northwest over the Edmon Low Library. The actual tornado passed about a mile and a half north of campus.
