electronic ignition ?

used my J.D. 60 couple weeks ago tried starting it today no spark,changed coil cap rotor plugs wires still no spark any ideas?
 
Anything can go bad....beer , whisky, women, What would make you think a electrical componant could"t....See if you have power on the red wire going into the dist, Do you have 6volt or 12 ...If 6. did you put a resistor in it? did you dheck the resistance @ the coil before you installed it ...It has to be more then 3 ohms..
 
You need to use a test lite or volt meter to see if you're getting battery voltage to your coil.
With points open you should have battery voltage on both small terminals. Make sure your ignition switch is in the on position. If there's no voltage you need to check back at the ignition switch for voltage at the terminal on the switch that feeds voltage to your coil.

If there's no voltage on the terminal feeding voltage to your switch you need to check the wire feeding voltage to the ignition switch. If you have voltage here you have a bad ignition switch. If there's no voltage to your switch
you need to trace the wire back to where its getting its voltage could be a broken wire.

Run a separate wire from the battery to your coil
and see if the engine will start. This will bypass the ignition switch. Hal
