Ford Mustang Air condition

After looking around on the net I have come here to my every day common folk in the real world for info. what computer controls the A/C mine is not working and from what I find the computer may be bad but there is one under the hood and one inside the cabin

How old is the car? The computer in the dash on our 95 Town Car messed up and wouldn't kick in the AC compressor. I wired it in on a toggle switch until I got another computer from a junkyard. There is also a series of buttons on the dash controls that you can hold and reset/scan the computer but I don't know if the Mustang is the same as the Lincoln.

Start with what year is it? I would look at state of charge, regardless. Put a gauge on it and tell us what you got. Also is compressor clutch kicking in? Sometimes a rock knocks a hole in the condensor from road and you lose charge. If you see oily spot somewhere, possibly the leak.

sorry about the year it is a 99 3.8 with auto trans. the charge was good we thought the orifice tube was clogged but it wasn't pulled a vacuum and no loss after 2 hours charged a little and no compressor power

First of all, "hot wire" power to the compressor clutch and see if the compressor runs and the system cools.

I am NOT familiar with that particular car, do you know what (if anything) a scan tool would be able to tell you about the AC system status?

Before you consider computer replacement you have to look at other things: fuse blown, relay bad (check the part numbers and swap with another relay) and pressures. On modern cars pressures are given to computers(body controllers) by a small screwed in sensor usually on the high side(small line. These are called transducers. They tell the controller what the system pressure is. If it's too high or too low the controller will deny compressor engagement.

CCRM's (constant control relay module) go south on these pretty regularly. These house various relays like fuel pump, cooling fan and AC compressor all in one "module".

I've never replaced a computer in a Ford for no compressor operation, but you really need to get your hands on a wiring schematic and diagnose it properly.

Why ? Have verified all the powers ,grounds and inputs to the computer ? Which computer ? Did you put a FULL charge in if not , how many ounces ? Have you check for power and operation of the low pressure cut out switch ? Have you checked for power at compressor clutch and clutch operation ? As Brad mentioned , ECM's are pretty durable , CCM or Intergrated Control Modules fail ,,alot . They control compressor operation , fuel pump, cooling fans etc. If your just guessing at ,I'd try an Oxygen Sensor it's lot cheaper than a computer and would give you the same result ,,lol
