Tire kickers.....Yea, I'm venting

Had an appointment today with some folks that wanted a puppy. We set aside enough time for them so there would be no rush. Got there late, let the little heathens play with the puppies, answered all questions, etc. The kids wanted to see the horses so we loaded them up and made the loop so they could see the foals and I gave them a short ride on my mare. Get back to the house about 10 minutes before the next appointment so I could clean upany little puppy bombs and make sure everyone was presentable.1st folks just wouldn't leave, kept droaning on about the horses and how they wish they had room for a pony yada yada. Finally turned the conversation back to the puppies they came for and get a "we really don't have the time or place for a puppy, we'd just promised the kids they could see some puppies"
I about came unglued.........
What gets into people's heads

I'm done now..........

I am selling a few of the tractors I have
collected. Do not vent to bad. I show the people
the tractor and explaing everything I know about
it in 15 minutes. Then I detach and go work on
something in the shop. If they are really
interested, they can ask questions while I work.
I let the tire kickers kick. About every 10th or
15th person will buy something. And, my stress is
very low.

Selling my Harley and was meeting a guy around noon today. Looks it over and asks the usual questions. After a while he said he was unemployed so would I take X for it. I feel bad for anyone unemployed but I don't feel that's a reason I should give them a Harley. Another waste of my time.

One of the slicker, seeder ones I ever had was back when I had a 730D for sale. I got a phone call from a young man that said he was in college in my city, and he wanted to come look.
I asked him if he had a job or financial resourecs, and he assured me that he did. He came, looked, drove, and then gave me his "story". He said he was studying hard and making good grades. He said his dad had passed and he had grown up running his dad's 730D.
He made me an offer lower than what it would bring, but I believed his story and we shook hands.
When it was time to pay and pick it up, he said that his uncle would be bringing me the money. I find out later that his story was bull fertilizer and he was sent by his arse hole uncle to get it as cheap as possible.
I could have refused to let the truck leave my property and given the money back, but I did not want to join the ranks of scum of the Earth.
These are some of the the same "adults" that lay out these low level examples to their children and relatives, and then wonder why kids can be so messed up today.
Rant over.

Reading craigs list wanted section. Here is a picture of a mother holding a baby saying they needed a free washing machine. I have a good working Kenmore I no longer use. After several E mails, a phone call later. I still have the washing machine. I guess the mother didn't need a washing machine that bad after all. stan

The one that gets me is: I too have a Limited edition Harley for sale, The guy calls asks a few questions and than says" whats the lowest you'll take for it" Not I'd like to come look at it or anything! How can some people be so stupid,Whats the lowest you'll take for it and haven't even seen it! Just cranks me !!! Jim in New Mexico

That's pretty much my FB status right now.
We bought an outdoor wood boiler in '04 to replace the old unit, but the house came down instead - haven't rebuilt yet. Boiler is 100% unused, and my asking price is still a grand less than anything on the market. I'm getting emails from goofs asking "What's your lowest price paid with cash"
Maybe I should re-list it $800 more, and then barter down to what I want.

I usually get the ones that haggle on the price then say,I'm looking for my uncle, neighbor
brother etc.I'll let you know.I usually tell them once you leave that deal is off.

sounds like typical slickers, the puppys were the excuse for comming, never wanted to buy one, the real deal was a nice visit to a real farm for the kids, with a horse ride thrown in the deal, and no dude ranch fee, only way you can look at it is you probably made those kids very happy , they had a nice time doing something that doesnt require batterys or a tv, and hope they grow up to be better than their parents are

When I put something up for sale, I put a no haggle price on it, tell people that this is non-negotable. You buy what you see, tell them what I know about it, tell them to take all the time they want to look, if they want it fine and if they don't fine that I have to get back to work, that my time is too valuable to spend a half a day argueing over 50 Bucks. Sold a truck last week, guy counted out the cash and left.Price must have been good he didn't even hesitate. Some people just like to haggle, me, I don't have time for such junk. I say take it or leave it, if you don't want it some else will.

That's a real good way to see it......
I'll keep that in mind.

I had a set of 15.5 by 38 tires on the rims off a 756 Farmall. My Uncle wanted them for his 530 JD we found out the rims were just a little too big to work. One day a local guy drove in a said I am here to pick up those wheels and Tires and put them on Waynes tractor, I can make them fit. I was getting ready to leave for an appt. so I told him to use my loader tractor to load them. Well he backed into the rotary radiator cover on my combine and bent it so it won't spin. It a few days Wayne came out and paid me he said Ed ask me to give this to you. I said I thought he was putting them on your tractor. He said no, now we had agreed on price and I would have sold them to Ed for the same price so he lied to me.

My sister in Florida has about four registered female dogs and sells the pups for between $800 and a $1,000 each. From a distance it looked, even to me, like easy money. Boy was I wrong! I spent three weeks with her this past winter and when you take into consideration all of the factors, she earns every cent. Putting up with folks like just described is all too frequent, along with about every variation mentioned by others. After close examination I could write a page or two about the difficulties, and hidden costs of giving loving care and selling quality dogs. It's kinda like "Walk a mile in anothers shoes." Thanks to comments like those already added helps understand the difficulties offen not made obvious to us on a daily basis.

unemployed but looking for a harley? sounds typical-ride a hog and live in a cardboard box! As for you that don't take offers i will remember that if you ever buy from me. I don't mind someone making me an offer, I try to price things fairly with a little room to come down if needed. I might say yes and I might say no just don't insult me. I really don't care about your problems, it's up to you to come up with the money and if you don't have it someone else will. As for appointments at least have the decency to show up!

When they quit looking at the puppies was the tipoff, Well said. I learned long ago that when they stop looking at the object and go off course, pretend you are buzy and bring them back to it buy saying "are we going to load this up" "are we going to do the paper work" usually this shuts them down.

I know......... , it's just that in some cases, folks here that want an Australian Sheperd also have horses and we have foals for sale. By the looks of the vehicle they were driving and the clothes they were wearing I thought this was one of the cases.

No real harm done, just pegged my Irkometer..............
