Ive got a chevy truck with a broken 4L60E. Would I be able to swap it out for a 700 R 4 I have sitting around?

Not unless you can reprogram or "chip" the powertrain control computer into acknowledging there's no longer and electronically-shifted tranny present.

On top of what Bob stated, there could also be other issues.

I just tried to help out my son-in-law with replacing his 4L60E. What a mess. His truck is a 2000 S10 size with a four-banger engine. Tried to fit several other transmissions and NG. One from a 2001 S10 V6 and another from a 1999 AstroVan V6. Found out there are several different bellhosing bolt patterns along with different splined input shafts, two-piece housings, torque-converter ODs, etc.

At the least, your 700R4 would need a TV cable hooked up to your trottle, to control shifting.

If a shaft or drum is twisted off then perhapes some TH700R4 hard parts can be transplanted onto the 4L60E.
You maybe lucky and just swap the electronic valve body onto the 700 and go?
