Hey,
Quad has been setting outside and not started since October. Got out the toolbox, either, fresh gas, and my rountuit today. Dead battery, so the rope was the choice. Pulled the choke out and pulled the rope one time just for S&G before taking things apart. Started right up and has been running since charging the battery. Packed all my stuff with a smile, grabbed a beer, and sat in the sun watching it run awhile........ Never started that easy with original plugs (new NGK) and I put that autolite in last summer.

Wanna know what kinda sparkplugs I like????

Up until the last 6 mo. I would have jumped on the wagon and cheered with ya,,,, been a Autoilite fan for 35 years,,, only ran into 3 defective plugs in that time and I have installed a bunch of'em,,, its not uncommon now to find a defect right out of the box before you install'em,,, thanks China,,, they are not my preferred plug any more  ,,, I think they are now made on the same assy. line as Bosch plugs,,, now I cross my fingers and hope for the best,,, if a vehicle comes back later with a intermittent miss complaint I sling another set in it and like magic the miss is gone,,, no need to spend time look'n for the miss,,, replace the junkie arse autolites,,, complain to my supplier, he tells me I am not by myself he is hearing it from all the shops....

I put a set of Autolites from Walmart in my pickup once and it ran worse than before. I found a plug wire was actually my problem, put the original AC plugs back in, and went to Walmart and got my moneg back.

I mentioned it at our local NAPA store and was told it's only the Autolites from Walmart that are garbage, if you buy them from a high end parts store they're OK. I figured Walmart must have demanded price concessions and Autolite caved and made special plugs for Walmart.

Wal-mart does the same thing with their tires. Ones high end place wont take, minor defects but hard to see sometimes, mostly in the tread.

Don't know about plugs, but if they have a special package number for Walmart that special plug is likely. I know Scotchbrite sponges from the grocery store last much better than those from Walmart where the yellow sponge falls apart rapidly.

thing i really dislike about NGK plugs in my 4 wheeler is they dont give any warning, just ridin along and BLAM...walkin home to get the tractor...i get about a year out of em...wised up last time and bought a extra plug and stashed it under seat...i'll have to see if anybody local carry's Autolite in the rite plug...i run em in most everything else.

With tires it's a little different. For the most part, the tire companies make exclusive tire models for Walmart. Can't get them anywhere else. There are a few exceptions to that, such as the basic Goodyear Wrangler S, but there aren't that many.

I always wondered about Champion plugs sold at discount stores, Kameapart and Wallymart. they didn't last like name brand auto stores, Just my thought Dave

Sam's Club tried to pull a bait and switch on tires on me once.

I checked out some tires on a Sunday, then decided I liked the price so I went back on Wednesday to have a set installed. I checked the rack in the store and there were seven tires of that model and size on the rack. I went to the tire shop and was told that model of tire had been discontinued, and they had all been shipped back. The tire replacing them just happened to be $15 per tire more.

I told the guy I'd just seen seven on the rack in the store. He said he'd go back to the warehouse, maybe there were some that hadn't been shipped yet. I didn't go anywhere, and in a few minutes he came with a shopping cart with four of the tires in it. While they were being mounted, I checked the store and there were only three left on the rack.

When I paid the bill, I made a few choice comments that let him know that I knew exactly what was going on.

While I'm not Ford fan per say. I look for a cross reference to an Autolite non resisitor when shopping for plugs.
I do take a ohm meter with me. I've been handed "non-resistor" plugs and they would measure 5-10 thousand ohms.
Parts counter guy would say "but they cross reference".
