Getting Away From The Tractors, Branson Mo

I have to get away from this tractor repair work. Thinking of going to Branson Mo to see some shows. From Central Wisconsin to Branson, could you drive down in one day without busting your tail. Anybody recommend any motels or hotels that will not cost an arm and leg and still be clean and comfortable. Would be going about the middle of April. Tractors insist that I go!

When my wife and i came back on our honeymoon from Branson we drove east through St. Louis, then up 55? through the middle of Illinois and stayed the night in Bloomington. We did spend some time at the Arch in St. louis and again in Springfield Illinois and it was a 10 or 12 hour day. Then we continued up through Wisconsin to North of Eau Claire on another 8? hour drive i think. Liked everywhere we stopped Bt I wouldn't try it in one day. Remember it is the trip that counts not the destination.

Season down there does not really open up full swing till the first of May memorial day to be exact. Most motels are a tad cheap before things really get going down there. As for driving that far yes can be done but that is at best a 12-14 hour drive. Of course there is the Lake of the Ozarks about 150-200 mile north east of branson where you could stop to take a brake, but I know that since I live at the lake

Back on Feb 21 we stayed at Foxbrough Inn and Suites in Branson. It's about fifteen minutes from the strip so it's away from the main traffic. The total bill was $55.79 for a room with one king bed. It was clean and modest. Had everything a Super 8 has but wasn't quite as new and the doors go to the outside. There was no continental breakfast cause it was out of season and the traffic was too slow. It's address is 235 Expressway Lane. Marilyn could hear some drunk woman through the wall in the middle of the night but that's not the motel's fault.

If you want a chain motel you could probably google Branson lodging or something like that. Have fun and enjoy your trip.

We stayed at a number of place and finally settled on Bransons Best. Breakfast every morning and a snick after the shows every night included in price.

That's a long haul. If you're going through IL. it's close to six hours from Rockford to St Louis and maybe another five or six to Branson.

My son and grandson took me to a convention in Branson. Stayed at the Branson Hilton pricey but everyting under one roof. Saw some great shows. They had everything for a old man in a electic wheel chair, I had a great time.

Is it possible to reach Branson from Wisconsin in a day? Sure, but what kind of a day would it be? You'd need a vacation trip to rest up from your vacation trip! Better to take your time and see some countryside along the way. Shortest distance might be to head straight South and go thru St. Louis to reach Branson, but you could find yourself at St Louis ready to call it a day, and St. Louis (or any such big city) would not be my idea of a place to relax for the night. Better to strike off West at maybe Peoria and cut down through Missouri- you might be reasonably able to reach Columbia in a decent day, spend the night there, and then make your way to Branson a bit more refreshed. Some beautiful country in Missouri- hate for you to miss it by pressing thru in the dark.

I run Springfield MO to Milwaukee in 10 hours eas,Stephens Point in 12 no sweat. Go now if you want less expensive. Lots of local talent now in the name venues. Stay off the landing it is WAY to high priced.

Rent a cabin on the lake. We had one down on Arrow Head Point. You can cook and save a fortune on eating out in resturants.
Make sure you get out of town and see some of the sites outside of town. Dogwood Canyon should be beautiful by mid April.

The Super 8 route map shows 640 miles from Milwakee. Depending on your driving habits but I usually do 600+ miles a day on the Interstate. Thats routes thru St. Louis down I-44 to Springfield.
I'm not reccomending Super 8 but I do like them for overnite stays.
Their search system is handy for checking distance.

I don't know about the drive for you but once you get there get a map of the routes around town. Red, green, blue and yellow routes. They will keep you out of a lot of standstill traffic on 76 highway. Just use 76 when you have to and the alt routes the rest of the time. Works great. Rooms are of all types there. There's a nice holiday inn express right behind the grand palace. I think it is on the yellow route so you don't have to get on the main road to get in and out of it. Hope this helps a little and enjoy your trip.
