Last week a few gents posted they were leaving, wellll now Im leaving also, I"ll show ya lol

Today were taking the RV and Golf Cart (bet we cover 500 miles in the week) and heading over only 20 miles to Florida Flywheelers at Fort Meade for the week. A wholeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee week of tractors and junk and tractor and horse pulls and pickin my banjo and jammin n square dancin woooooo hooooooooo it dont get much better then this. BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT as I tell my younger buddies when they say they cant wait till they can do this retirement thing I TELL THEM DO NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT WISH THEIR LIVES AWAY. I wouldnt trade any of this for the days when the kids were young and in school THOSE ARE THE BEST DAYS OF YOUR LIFE you just dont realize it a the time perhaps

See you there??

Hi John. That's very good advice. I didn't think I would ever get to my 16th birthday to get my driver's license and now 61 years has passed, been married 57 of those years. After a hitch in the Army during the Korean war and 41 years with the US Government it makes you wonder where all that time went. Hal

To paraphrase Charles Kuralt, "An old man told me when I got to be his age I would look back at my life and reflect on all the chances I had to go to bed with a girl and turned it down. I thought it was funny then"

John, You're making me jealous. Wish I could bop over to Forida fom Mississippi, but Marilyn would become uncommunicative and it'd be a long drive home.

It's cool and rainy here in Dumas Ar, but I love it compared to what we left in Iowa last Thursday.
Enjoy the flywheelers. Will be in "New Ahlins" in a couple of days. Jim

Hope ya'll have the best of times. I'm not looking forward to it, but starting to encroach on the same time in life. I'll retire from the AF in November, and have to start looking for a job in the civilian world. One day I'll hopefully be able to cruise to the Florida Show, but today and tomorrow it's still hard at work.

Go for it; never had the kids/grandkids thing, so I can't relate, but I can't imagine I would have been happier than I've been; been retired 5 years on May 30th(sold the last 50-odd head of cattle on that day); retirement is just like everything else; it 's what you make of it. I've known some folks who are bored out of their mind; gotta wonder how un-bored they were while working. Wife's still working and folks often ask when she's retiring; I tell 'em we can't both quit and I beat her to it.............

Have a nice time. I remember looking at my new ID Card at the Great Lakes Navy training center. In Sept 1968 thinking four years sure is a long time. What have I gotten my self into. Then I made it out alive from nam in 1972. Looking back now at 59. I can remember some girls.I wish I had not got involved with.

Retired from from 35 year trucking job a week ago. I liked my job, was treaded ok, paid a decent wage but just decided to move on and experience other things my 60 hour a week job didn't allow me to do. My last few days I shook the hands of a lot of people that were envious of my retirement. I told them all the same thing you do. Don't wish your life away as it goes wayyyyyyy to fast as it is. I would be happier to just be ten years younger than I am. Although I would want to still know what I know now.

John don't rupture something picking that HEAVYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Banjo. Hey have a good time Bill

Have a good time & post us some pictures!! :)

I'm jealous - we've still got snow covering the ground out here...

John, I took a walk around the grounds and noticed this 1930 Model A tractor. It was originally a pickup but was sold by Sears as a tractor that could be converted back to a truck when needed. It is modified a little with the box and some other things.
