off topic-car prices

I have been searching for a specific model-year car[newer] and find the prices vary a lot. I know depends on milage, etc. What is the percentage mark up on these cars? New car dealers seem higher than the auction buyer used dealer.

There are so many variables involved in used car pricing, I could expound on it all afternoon.

For openers, there is no standard markup, it's whatever the traffic will bear, regardless of how much you have tied up in the vehicle. I've more than doubled my money on vehicles, and at times been lucky just to get my money back.

It's not like a retail store where you buy an item for $70 and sell it for $100.

New car dealer wants you to shop new cars so his used is priced high to make you think twice.
On the flip side he may have got the car on a trade and has very little into it so he can be negotiable on the price.
