Might as well get next seasons wood in the shed. Having firewood is like money in the bank, but letting it season for awhile is like collecting intrest. LOL j

Common here to cut wood to 1 meter long for storage and split/stack it in the woodlot (amazingly, it usually don't get stolen). Your wood (or the wood you are buying) could be several miles from home. Mostly sold by the cubic meter also. You can buy or make a nifty little frame for the 3pt hitch that is a meter by a meter. Fill it up and take it home where you cut it twice to fit the stove.

Nice stack in the bucket. Looks like you were working hard. It sometimes seems like no time till it's next fall and time to start burning again.

We cut ours twice that long for burning anyway. My stoves take up to 4 feet. When we use the small branches, we don't have to handle so many pieces.

No, you are 100% right, for some reason it went flat. I aim to fill it one of thes days. She sits all winter, I refuse to drive it on the roads with all the salt. Its a 89 chevy 4x4 rack dump. PS good eye!

These are 20" long, but god have mercy on your back, handeling 48" logs not for me ;(.

hat is only the second one of that old splitter I have ever seen.
Very simple, compact and just seem to work forever.

I understand not wanting to drive with the salt. I've got a '65 GMC dump truck that I kind of like. I could get a newer and better truck, but driving the dump truck reminds me of a friend of our family who used to let me ride with him when I was a kid.

I saw the flat because I live in Misery, I mean Missouri. We've got wonderful roads in most places, they just don't seem to be going where I happen to be! You develop the ability to see low tires just walking out the door of the house.
