i got a bunch of those rascles hanging out around here too, but here in central nm, its not the birds that are the problem, its their dinner guests that come along too, coyotes and a few mountain lions, area ranchers have killed 3 lions in the last month and a half all within 5 miles of here, [ a male mountain lion can have a home range of around 100 square miles]

Got lots of those dirty birds around here.Come on over and get one for Thanksgiving dinner.Hope you got strong teeth tuff old birds.Great Pics Thanks

i've got at least 15-20 that are using my corn bunk for a buffet when we're away from the bunk. you should see the tracks in new snow.

Feathered RATS, Maine is overrun with them. Think they are eating a lot of food that would be available for deer

Got a bunch of them here in Kansas.
My brother hit one with a car a couple of years. Out of curiosity, he gutted it and found a bunch of unhatched quail eggs in it. And we wonder why our quail population is down.

now that is a idea! i got a truck , y'all get some very large live traps, that would be something id love to watch lol

Hey, at least the turkeys in the photo fend for themselves - and don't rely on our taxes and/or printing new money - and making our's more worthless.

Ben Franklin wanted the turkey to be our national bird instead of the Bald Eagle. Maybe he had something, since the Eagle often eats road kill like a vulture.

I remember back 50 years ago when seeing a turkey in NY was rare. Re-instating them in one of the few things the State conservation department ever did that actually worked. Now?? They've been catching turkeys here in big canon-fired nets and sending them up to Québec - since the Canucs want them too. How do you say "gobble-gobble" in 17th century Français?

a guy brought one he had just shot couple of Christmas ago. We cut it's breasts out and the legs and cleaned them and threw the rest away. Cooked it in crock pot with a chicken recipe I saw once on TV....makes awesome chicken. Wild turkey tastes like garbage in my opinion. Ended up throwing the whole disgusting mess away. I just do not like any kind of wild game, I guess.

They are cool to have around in small numbers but can become annoying vermin in larger numbers.

Lots of them here too. Re-introduced about 25 years ago with Michigan stock.
They live and breed protected at the Bruce Power Nuclear site. Every year hundreds of them migrate up the powerline right of way. From the site into the local area. Usually see 30-60 on any day driving home from work.
A wild turkey I had raised and flew the coupe came back the next winter with 70 of her hungry friends looking for a handout. They would come within 80yards of the house when tempted by grain.
