A week or so ago someone was asking about what happens when a axle brakes so I sent some pictures to stuck troubled, showing what happens.

Here's one of your pics. Hal

Great set of pics showing how to deal with the problem of getting the rig back to the farm. What may cause the fatigue in the axle at that point-weighted outside duals, striking something? This is the second picture on YT that shows a large JD with broken axle, the other was a 55 series pulling a beet harvester I think. They both seem to break at the same location.

Looks like he hit the rut on the right and thebump on the left going a little too fast.

That old tractor has almost 11,000 hours on it. It is a power shift so it gets used on a dirt scoop some. The last big job I did was grade work for a new shed. I hauled all of the black dirt out and was down to pure Mo. clay that I couldn't cut so I extended the frost bit with my wire welder ha ha. I had the dirt scoop with no dolly wheels sucked in so hard I could only pull in 2ND and third gears while packing the front wheels with the duels on, no rear cast or fluid. That was hard my old 4440, turning 161 horse also.

the early 4430 weer real bad about this pulling a V-ripper or 8 row 3 point equipment, the later one had larger azles'
