7000 hour 4020

I might be in a position to go after a 4020 with somewhere around 7000 hours. I really need something smaller around 45 horse, but all of them I find are way too expensive. This 4020 is the only thing I"ve found that I would be comfortable with pulling hay trailers-don"t want a truck since I will be in the field, and vehicle reg, insur, etc wouldn"t make sense. It is really overkill, but at least I wouldn"t say it is in good condition, but not bad either. I"m thinking 7000 hours if I don"t find anything obvious is worth the risk.

I like the idea of going with a little bigger tractor up front. You never know, you might need it later on. My experience with 4020's is they are either worn down or well over priced. I've seen 4020's sell for almost as much as a decent 30 series with cab.

At 7000 hours it would be good preventative maintenance to plastigage the rods and the accessible mains and slip in new inserts adjusted to original clearance. Not a great expense and nips loose rods in the bud.
