I was with my son while was thawing out his Blazer in the shop at the NH dealer where he works in parts and he showed me this turbo off of a late model big blue thing that's a bit "pooched"... I'm glad I don't have to pay for this! I wonder what the compressor side looks like???

Probably a couple grand...
Wisemen will learn to let it idle before shutdown next time. Also learn to not work it until it warms up/stabilizes on cold starts too.
Turbo's last a lot longer with oil.

Hey how do you oil a turbo? I have a 1086 and I know nothing about oiling the turbo. Also do mt CAT 3208s in my 4-150s have a turbo? I dont know but don't think so because they dont have that vacuum-cleaner whirr sound the 1086 does.

I bet it is very $$$$ ! Just how good is the Engines Condition ,sound s like more Ouch I the near future !

...make sure the engine is turning when the turbo is spinning.
On a cold start it takes time for oil pressure to rise and drive oil up to the turbo bearings. If the engine is running at idle the turbo is not spinning so fast. Requires less oil. Give it some time to warm up before working the engine.
Likewise, on shutdown, a turbo may have to wind down from 100K rpm at full load. If you shut the engine off from full power it's gonig to spin a while without oil. However, if you let the engine idle for 3-5 minutes the water temperature lowers and stabilizes, the exhaust temperature lowers to a nominal level and stabilizes and the turbo winds down quite slow. It's still going to turn for a few seconds ofter shutdown... but a few seconds is better than a minute.
