I have a 1950 8n 12 volt conversion, I went out
to start the tractor and it turned over once and
will not start, won't do anything, lights won't
work, I've checked the wiring its OK., when I jump it it will turn over, but will not start.
hope someone can help, or give me some Ideas, it
has been running just fine. Thanks Nick

Have you tried a different battery? I'm wondering if that one shorted out. I never had one do it,so I don't know how it would act. You'd think sparks would fly when you hook up the cables wouldn't you? If that wouldn't be the case,I wonder if it would take the power away from the coil even if you were jumping it? That would be the first thing I'd try though, slide a different battery in it.

Well just because it will turn over does not mean it has the 3 things it needs to make it run. You need spark, blue/white that will jump a 1/4 inch gap. You need fuel to the cylinder not to much but still enough to fire and compression and all at the right time. I'd bet you have weak or no spark plus a dead battery which does not help spark even when jumped because you are trying to turn the engine over and also charge a dead battery at the same time
