o/t,skunk GOT EM!

Was getting tired quick of being met inside the barn door in the mornings by a young take over the place skunk so nabbed him thismorning.He scurried towards the end of an old section of the barn at the silo room.Shut the door behind him.Took a plastic garbage can,holding it upside down snuck inside the room with him and just stood there quiet.He smelled his way around the well lit room,around my feet and didn't take any notice of me what so ever.He went towards an opening in the wall and started digging old silage to try to get out.Snuck up behind him and plunged the can over him.Didn't have a chance to spray it happened so quick.We slid a piece of plywood under the can,than lifted him outside.I took the can off the wood and ran like heck towards the other guy with the 12 guage.As soon as I was out of harms way he let the cocky bugger have it lol.

We haven't had any skunks cone around for a couple of years. I don't know if it's because of the chocolate lab or what.

We had a skunk raid the chicken house once, and when it came out carrying a young chicken dad let loose with the 12 gauge, trying to aim toward the back of the skunk to try to save the chicken. When he shot the chicken ran one way and the skunk ran the other way, leaving it's tail laying on the ground where dad had aimed. It never did spray and we never saw it again. Jim

We had a mama skunk get in a small drainage culvert near our house when I was a kid. Close enough to smell them. My dad used some old hose connected to the tail pipe and backed his '69 Ford Truck up the the culvert and then plugged both ends where they couldnt get out and let the truck idle for an hour or so. Mama skunk and all of the babies went nite-nite without spraying at all. Next time it rained heavy, they washed out and were picked up and disposed of. Pretty clever of my dad, i always thought.

We need to be very careful of skunks around my neck of the woods cuz they are found to have rabies pretty often. Had to put down a dog I really liked cuz he got hold of a rabid skunk.Funny thing, the skunk didn't spray him'

I am jealous. 2 weeks ago I saw one in the cat house, last week the dog came up smelly, the live trap has been set that long with an apple and today I finally caught the wife's underfoot cat. Will try again when I get the chance.

Lol,Dad said once he was cutting hay with an old massey sickel type mower conditioner and one jumped up out of the hay right infront of the mower.It stuck it's tail straight up just in time to get snipped off .Bet that striped fella lost most of his pride lol.

My neigbhor has em up at his place most all the time. He has quite a bit of grain for his turkeys and chickens around. You'll hear him fire off the 12 gauge at least twice a week. He baits his trap with a can of sardines, catches coons, skunks and an occasional cat. He lets the cats go and lets go on the coons and skunks..LOL

back in the spring had several skunks move into a scope of woods below the house and every evening they would come out into the pasture to feed. drove the tractor close enough to them to dispatch them with a 22 pistol. pretty docile animals and do not scare to easily, they paid little or no attention to the tractor.
