New truck advice

I need to replace a chevy 3500 HD stakebody dump that we use for residential roofing. Our other dump is a 04 Ford 550 with the 6.0 diesel that we've been mostly happy with. I'm leaning towards another Ford, but haven't heard much about the new diesels. Anybody have any advice or had any experiences good or bad?

Ed: I have owned/used both a Ford F-550 with 7.3 L diesel and an International 4200 with International's version of the 6.0 L. Granted there is a difference in the GVW between the two, but for my money, I'll go with the IH any day. More truck, more stability, better visibility (probably because you seem to sit higher), etc. With Ford you get cookie cutter specs, while with IH you have more options (fuel tank location and capacity, rear axle ratio, seats, wheelbase, transmission, etc. I would never go back to a Ford or Chevy. Go to a heavier GVW; you will not be sorry!

FORD is putting the new diesel engine in the 2011 models, heard some may be available first of the year. This is the first diesel that Ford has designed and built in house.

After taking it in the a$$ on a 04 ford 6.0, I would NEVER buy a new engine until it has been out a few years. I hope my 04 went to the crusher, (traded in 06 with only 12,000 mi)

Just google'd the new diesel, can this be right, an aluminum head on a diesel engine, that must not be any regular aluminum.

I definitely am waiting to see how that is going to work out before I would even consider getting one of those.

I thought the 6.4 was doing a good job, why the total re-design?

I have an 2008 F350 with the 6.4L diesel with 42 kmiles. I am completely happy with the truck. Best truck I have ever owned.
