West, TX is a Czech community near Mount Calm, TX.

In a previous life I lived in Ennis, TX which is another Czech community.

Loved the Czech pastries and most of the food.

Be sure to bring a pillow and blanket; you'll need a power nap after eating all that good food.

i'm originally a west end of the island farmer from south of you on the sinkin sandbar...moved the whole operation up here to Sheridan back in the 60's when them con-dam-minimums started gettin close...its southwest of Columbus on 90A

got it, the newer jd green with yellow hoofies!!! fer breakfast, denver omelets and hash browns with some of that texas toast would go good!!! kruser and i can overnite in the tool shed, course if ya need help baling, there could be a beer surcharge!!!!!

Hey glennster,
Do I have to paint our horses or should I bring the paint and critters up to the shop for a professional job? Might have venture over the JD board to get the right numbers.

PS: Couldn't believe my eyes Saturday afternoon as there was a pretty good sized, gooseneck stock trailer setting in our yard. Figured the plan must be coming together and the wife and daughter were going along with it! Turned out one of the wife's friends had just parked it there for thier 4-H stand on the Spoon River Drive. Yep, sure enough it rolled out just before 8 on Sunday morning.
Guess I'd better repack bearings on our old trailer for a trip like that!

Any where that a person stops to eat in West, you will be more than satisfied. Watch the czech bakery, you will spend way too much money in a hurry, but it is well worth it. And, amen on the nap.

Glennster, on your way swing by here, I have some puppies that Nancy needs too. Will go along great with here new horses.

kruser, i'm thinking we just paint everything down ta' howells place, looks like we gotta get kyplowboys puppies too. just line all the critters up and mop a coat of that green stuff on em, then have em walk thru a tub o' yeller paint to get the feet the right color. might have to stop in missouri, pick up genemo and old, they prolly got some critters they wanna donate to the howells critter rescue program!!!!

About a year ago there was a tractor for sale in West, TX but for some reason we never made it over to see it.

I've been through both Hubbard and Mount Calm to and from Waco, but never the pleasure of visiting West, TX.

Sounds like time for a road trip.

There is a family (mother & son) that is buying hay from us that are from Franklin.

Long trip, but they say the local drought has severly limited hay production.

We've had a very hot and dry summer, and it has hurt the local farm and ranch operations. Now, we have so much rain, you can hardly get around. It has dried enough for some of the folks to get hay cut, and put back, but I'm sure there is plenty need for it. We are still supposed to get more rain tonight, and again Friday. It usually comes in 3/4" increments or more. I see the 18 wheelers coming down U.S. 79 loaded with hay, and headed South and West. They have slowed some, but still pass a couple every evening on the way home from town. As a resident of this drought area, I appreciate you having enough to sell, and for providing it.
