OT First hard frost lastnight

i had 24 degrees when i woke up at 6:30 this morning here in good ole weyauwega. heard on a wausau station that merril had 22 this mornin

I heard there was frost around La Crosse in low areas, but not any farther South. I'm about 25 miles South and we didn't have any.

It's cooling off quite nice, but the air conditioner is still running. It got down to around 72 here in central Texas. It's 85 today

I live between Stoddard and chaseburg and I had frost this morning in the valley but the ridge had none. What wasn't covered up is toast.

We got frost here about a week ago and killed about half the corn. What's still living isn't growing with this cold weather. Crappy weather here since Sunday.

It was 37 this morning ... here in middle of Iowa ...
I'm not ready for the cold or the white stuff... 4 letter word ...

Would you be in Ferryville?

Got stopped by the local cop in Ferryville last summer, they have maybe 1 block long 40 mph zone and he got me at 55. $175 cash on the spot, pay the officer. Thought that was pretty steep for 15 over but it's probably the only income the town has. Officer was fair guy but cut no slack, but I was guilty for sure.

I'll be in PDC this weekend, probably run to LaCrosse for an afternoon. Will be reeeeal slow thru Ferryville.

Doug, that local cop in Ferryville got me two years ago with my motor home. I got it in the 25 mph zone. I paid about the same fine. The funny thing about it was that I had a group of cars following me as I entered the town and I pulled over to let them pass me and then took off a little ways behind them and I received the ticket. Now I always drive 15 mph all the way through town and I have not patronized any of the towns businesses since then.

Didn't look at the thermometer, but there was enough frost on the windshield that my fingernails couldn't get through it. Will be filling silo soon now!

Hehe. Yeah, Ferryville is well known around here for being a speed trap. It's pretty common for traffic to be traveling along the highway at 10mph over the limit, but once it hits town, all the speeders slow down to exactly the speed limit (or under it). There's a reason a town that small can afford it's own police officer, I guess :)

I'm a bit north of Ferryville though, and on the other side of the river.

If that is the only income the town has its illegal for the town to use a speed trap to get income.Somewhere a few years ago I read where a town was doing that and the judge ordered them to stop being a town. They finally pulled the wrong person over and they pushed it until the town had to be dissolved.Which might be something to do to that town as well.
