New concrete floor

Just finished pouring a concrete floor in the shop
its still wet.. What should I put on it to seal it
how long to wait to seal it? It will probably
have oil dripped on it once in a while.

The concrete takes 28 days to cure. The slower it cures the better. Keeping it damp and cool for the first week helps it cure better. Wait atleast 3 weeks to seal it because it has to breath a bit. The best thing to seal it with is a professional epoxy sealer, but they do sell do it yourself epoxy kits.

That depends on what you are sealing it with. The sealer should have instructions on or in the package. There is one sealer I really like that you put on green (as soon as you can stand on it without scuffing the surface) concrete. Others are paint or urethane-based and should be put on after the concrete is cured.

Around here the sealer was always put on the next day. Probly one of those opinion things that everyone is right. At home might be different than here at the factory. Even the next day here you can see where (casper the gost) was tracking around on the fresh cement. Sealer will not do the job it is suppose to with dirt under it. The last 100 X 100 floor was poured over ten years ago with forktrucks running on everyweek day and still no floor dust when sweeping. Can't be to wrong.

As several of the others have said it depends on the sealer. Most commercial jobs are sealer with an admix or as soon as you can walk on the floor. They do not want to wait and have the construction crews messing and marking up a finished floor!

28 days until its dehydrated to full strength.I'd keep spraying with water for at least 2 weeks longer would be better. Then a sealer later.Hope the Finishers didn't pour it too wet, nothing will help remedy that

Many use a cure/sealer and put it on as soon as you can walk on it with a sprayer.
Problem with it is that gas will dissolve it later and oil will absorb into the concrete too.
If you want a true sealer don't use the cure/sealer as the true chemical resistant sealers require to be put on bare concrete and if sealed before that will have to be removed.
My floors had cure/sealer on them and the road salt dripping off the cars is eating up the floor.
So depending on your end use you may be better off keeping it wet for several days, cover with burlap and/or plastic ? will help keep it wet too so it can slow cure. Then top seal at a later date after full cure with a really good chemical resistant sealer.

Neighbor was a concrete guy all his life(retired now) He said concrete continues to get harder everyday for 12 years, then gets weeker every day after. Does that sound right?
