nice 1971 john deere 4020 1 owner with 4100 hrs sold at auction today for $20.750.00 all origanal sale was at vermillion mn

I was there to. How about the JD 1988 6620 T2 level land combine with 1646 hours that brought $36.000! Guy from New York bought it. Must be really desperate for older deere combines out east.

Interesting to hear what that tractor brought. Why do people pay such retarded prices for them 4020"s? I"ve driven my fair share of tractors from all brands and the 4020 isnt ever worth that kind of money...hardly half of that to me. Come on, its only got 8 forward speeds and its pretty light for the HP it creates!

Only 8 foreward speeds? That's more than any other tractor of the time with lots better hydraulics, one finger powersteering, and around 90 horse. They were way ahead of the competetion.

In my opinion, Oliver and International had better tractors at that time. John Deere just marketed them better. The 55 series is when Oliver began to lag behind and IH didnt make quick enough improvements with Deere to keep with them.
