I have a 2N and it is leaking hydraulic fluid at the lower link. I tried to take the bolt off thats holding that piece on but the whole thing just spins. How do you go about replacing these parts?

Thanks

If you're a bit lucky, it's the left one that's leaking.

You need to jack the tractor up, take off the LEFT rear wheel, then the 'trumpet'/axle assembly from the center section AS an assmbly, and tighten the castellated nut from INside the rear/center housing. That 'pin' you are looking at dripping is a 'tapered' fit and any looseness needs to be addressed NOW before it gets loose enough to wallow out the hole UNrepairably.

Sometimes, this CAN be done with some success from the PTO opening @ the rear but, I don't have girl hands so it's NOT happening for ME.

IF it's the right side that's leaking, do the same thing but keep going in from the LEFT SIDE. You'll have to pull the ring gear/third member out toward you from the left side to get to the right nut. Watch out, it's heavy and there's nothing holding it in but balance so watch your toes!!

Check manual or archives here for proper torque specs and don't neglect all of the seals and gaskets while you're in that deep.

HTH,

Here's a thread on the "N" Board that covers it. The studs are different on an 8N than the 2N/9N's, but the basic procedure remains the same.
STOP that leak
