I'm gonna quit cussin' IH swathers.

Don't know where it is finding it, but the silly machine is sucking hay up off the ground somehow.

Sorry girls, but you ol' cows will be eating stems this winter. :>)

That's a cute lookin swather, Al. Around here very few swathers have cabs. We just don't have enough hay acres to justify it. If that cutterbar is anything like the IH balanced bar sickle mowers, it'll cut through anything, electric fence posts excluded.Jim

That fine crop was thick enough to absorb most of the impact. Without major plastering to the ground. Do the leaves look like they will stay on? The ground is sure clean after the swather passes! Jim

Look at the positive side. It wasn't hailed on, it was Pre-tenderized. And it was free!!!

Have you ever bought hail insurance on Alfalfa?

I learned a thing or two when I did the underwriting for crop hail in MO.

You buy an amount of coverage, per acre, then that amount is divided by the number of expected cuttings.

We started allowing them to split it up where maybe 6o% was put on the first cutting, then lesser amounts as they chose.

I think you are going to be OK on that hay, maybe a few leaves less.

I dunno Allen. That looks like a good 1.3T cut to me, good for dryland NE desert. Pic two shows a nice stand. After the doom and gloom hail report, tell us the yield. I'm guessing it's your best yield ever.
