I was wondering how were these forage harvesters, how well did they chop? On the pickup units which would be the wind row and the direct cut unit with cuter bar and reel; did the auger have truble with wraping due the lack of non retractable fingers? also did the John Deere 620 and 630 have enough PTO power to run the chopper?

I had a #8 JD chopper.I used it for a couple of years and powered it with a AC D17. I got a chance to buy a slightly used Fox with a 1 row corn head so parked the #8.Powered the Fox with a 190 AC Gas.

Farmall M could run one okay; we preferred the Farmall 300, as it had live pto. Tough, dependable choppers.
