what is the most you have paid to have a tractor restored,to include tractor start to finish. and what kind was it?

I'll bet if anyone decides to keep track, he abandons that notion about half way through- just too painful, and what if the better half finds your journal?

only did one...knew at the start it was going to be one of those "whatever it takes " deals so just wrote check after check untill it was done!! Glad i did though! Charles

Way too much. I did a complete resoration of a Farmall SC that was running, but smoked. I bought a Farmall C for $100 for parts too. Total amount of $'s in the tractor and the restoration, well over $8000. As I said at the first, way too much.

I have also done complete restorations of two Ford 8N's, a Ford 851, a Moline UT, and am curently working on a Moline G-VI. I do not keep cost records anymore.

Bought my '42 Farmall H for $400 and currently have $4000 or so in it and it still needs body work and paint. I didn't have to touch the transmission or rearend - that's mainly just engine work, tires, etc. This is with NO labor charge for my work.

I was working on a Farmall A for a neighbor - he came and got it when we hit $3000 (includes my labor at only $10 per hour) and that was just to get it running, oil seals, clutch, body work. Still needs a few little pieces and paint.

I'm in well over $6000 on this 47 A. That does not include my time. After as many hours as I have spent, I wouldn't take anywhere near that for it. It's all about the passion not the price.

Ive got approx. 5,500 in a 1941 "H" JD not counting MANY MAN HOURS, I got started and just couldnt stop. I could have bought a tractor cheaper for what Ive spent but on the other hand it means alot more to me this way. And by the way it made Green Magazine this month in the Deere and There pages!
