My JD GT262 is about 12 yrs old when I shift gears it seems I have too double clutch more and more lately to get going. Is my drive belt worn?Been a great little lawn tractor.Never put a dime in it except for maintenance.I just figured change a belt when they break. Also could my deck belt be slipping too.How would I know?

Thanks
Stan

Not sure how you can double clutch this model as you dont hit neutral between any forward gear shift positions. Maybe "double clutch" means something else where your from? There is an idler pulley on the drive belt on a GT262 that can be adjusted to allow for a worn belt. Not sure if this will help your problem or not. I have an 11 year old GT262 - still on original belts and I have some slopes I mow. I had to adjust the idler a year ago. If your mower deck belt is slipping you would have the blade speed slow down in heavy grass , may be even stop ,leaving uncut grass, and maybe smell the burnt belt.
