We stopped in Dyersville on Wed. and mad almost a full day of it. We had breakfast at the Dyersville Family restaraunt, then went to the toy tractor museum. That was lots of fun and I ended up buying a model 1950T Cockshutt.
When we were getting in the car I saw the outklet store just down the street, so we went over there and I found a model 540 Cockshutt corn planter to go behind the tractor. Then my wife grabbed a tourist info brochure and saw that they had a Basilica so we went there and got in on a tour that was going through. I have to admit, that church was absolutely beautiful. Stopped at the Feild of Dreams then and spent a good while there just enjoying the weather.
After that my wife wanted to see postville and then we headed home. Was really fun driving on the less traveled roads and the twisting & winding ones through some cliffs and such.
We stopped in Sun Prarie for the night and finished the drive yesterday. Got home just in time too. I ended up hauling about 12-13 loads of manure and hopefully we can get the rest of the feild today and get it worked in, then as long as the weather cooperates we will try to get the corn in on Saturday after having pre-plant herbicide sprayed.
Sitting on the couch with my dog curled up next to me now- She's glad we're home and so is my wifes dog. They stayed with our parents while we were gone.
Feels good to be back home, but Iowa was fun.
