Lawnflite 784 - power dying out

I have a lawnflite 784 that I estimate is about 20 years old. I have recently had a problem develo whereby it will run okay for about 10 minutes then slow down - almost to the point of stopping. The drive from the engine is poweful and okay, it cuts okay, but it seems as if when it gets hot it looses power to the drive wheels. Does anyone have any ideas to cure this?
Thanks!

I am not familiar with that particular lawn tractor, but, it sounds like its drive speeds are similar to the snapper walk behinds. On the Snapper, the power is belt driven to a horizontal disk, then a vertical wheel is placed on that disk-by moving this wheel in and out you get different ground speeds. On my Snapper, the vertical wheel rubber got hot and lost traction, thereby losing power to the wheels. And, the longer you ran it the more noticeable this became. Greg
