so and so kids and the fridge

The children are old enough to know better but do you think after being caught doing it. And even after given a blast for it maybe 20-30 times. They still leave the fridge door open. Or fail to roll the lower freezer drawer closed.
Well today the milk was sour etc. Compressor was running and the freezer compartment was frozen. Yet the fridge compartment above was warm???
No blockage in the duct from the evaporator coil/fan up to the fridge???
Pulled the cover off the evaporator and found the return air passage from the fridge down to the evaporator coils 100% frosted. Took 10 minutes with the daughter's hairdryer to loosen and remove a chunk of ice about the size of three lbs of butter.
Tipped the fridge up and found a whack of dust/dirt too. Stuck in the bottom mounted condenser coils that can't be reached from the front air grill.
Maybe when I get home at 2:30AM from work tonight the beer will be cold?

A while back my tenants, two single mothers, called to say the refrigerator wasn't cold enough. I go over and take a look. The fridge is chock full of leftovers. I start taking things out and find that an EMPTY margarine block is STUCK to the side of a pot in such a way that the fan inlet is completely blocked off. Removed box, replaced leftovers, problem solved.

I tried that, worked for about a week. Then that one was packed full also, and my beer was sitting along side it. Refer the thread 'wasted time'.

My grandkids always know that I keep something they like in the fridge. First thing when they visit is head to it and stand there with the doors open. Yes the freezer also. Conversation goes something like this. Hope, or Lee, or Brittany,, or Brad or whichever I'll tell them that they're letting my flies out. I then go on to tell them that I'd bet they don't have any flies in their fridge at home.
I got more than a few strange looks at first but they picked up on it pretty fast.
David..............

near as i can tell, there must be a movie playing in the fridge that only kids can see, but not adults. kids will stand there with the door open staring for quite some time.

How about installing a screen door return spring on the door? It'd look hokey, but it would work. And a heavier spring would be too tiring fer them to stand there, holding the door open! A few pinched fingers would smarten them up!

That's probably true, but remember, there are kids that turn out to be just hopeless at a later age.

It's not ALL the parents fault.

I had the same problem 3 years ago. My wife called the repairman. He came out and said "Your compressor is bad, got a leaky valve" I ask him if he was sure it wasn't a defroster problem. He said "Nope its a compressor, not worth fixing, but I'm only going to charge you 60 bucks for a trip charge since I didn't fix it. I paid him $60, got on the internet, ordered a $9 circuit card for the defroster and and its been working fine ever since.

Fridge is working better than it has for a long time. The duct must have been gradually freezing over several instances.
And yes I do beat their dumb little a$$'s approx every 4-6 weeks for major violations. Or when their hearing begins to fail again.

Joe, so it ain't so! DId you know more strippers per capita come from preachers' homes than any other household? Not that I have ever frequented such establishments, of course...only read about them.

Joe is about the coldest and most judgmental son of a beach that I have ever seen post. My Jesus would call him on it...
Joe has a pile of stones and is almost always the first to chuck them. On Good Friday, I believe he would have been a nail pounder. NO GOOD COMES FROM ..CONDEMNATION...only from repentance and acceptance of undeserved forgiveness.

Yup His kind is also mentioned in the Bible , to beware of false witnesses That's why I ignore him
