Is there a particulat type of antifreeze for a diesel? Or does it matter? Also I want to change the belt and it appears I would have to take off the pulley ? The pulley is connected to the pump and there is no way to get under it to put the belt on it appears?

On your tractor use a 50/50% percent of the green antifreeze and water. I prefer to mix my own instead of buying the predilluted stuff. What pump are you talking about, the water pump? If so you have to feed the belt around the fan then onto the pulley, if your tractor has a front mounted hydraulic pump like a 3400,4500, ford tractor that runs the a front loader you will have to remove the hydraulic pump and slide it foward to unspline the drive shaft that goes into the center of the crankshaft pulley.

if you are referring to the front hydraulic pump, then there should be two bolts on the pump shaft. remove them and open the coupling enough to remove and install the belt. close the coupling and tighten bolts and adjust the belt tension on the alt/gen bracket and it's ready to go. a ford manual might help if ya have any questions.

Use any antifreeze.
But on those 3 cyl Ford diesels make sure you use a coolant conditioner. They are known for cavitation problems due to vibration. Can't remember what other brands are available - others here will know. I just went to my dealer and he sold me what I needed.
