Today my mother gave me a magazine in perfect condition. A 1915 "The Farmer" magazine that she found with some things she had stored away all these years. Here are some of the ads in there: A large ad for the 1915 Indian motorcycle; construction and preservation of good roads; construction of northern Minnesota roads, and southern roads (Olmstead, Goodhue and Murray County); John Deere implements of which include the manure spreader boasting "the beater on the axel", John Deere wheel plows, disc harrow model B, R&V gasoline engines; Eagle kerosene and gasoline engines; Hickory Paints; Keen Kutter staple puller; Good Year Fortified Tires; Mayer Honorbuilt work shoes; J-M Sparkplugs and auto accessories; FarmPruf shoes from Northern Shoes; Cyclone Fences (for a lasting tribute to the departed); Tinned and retinned STURGES milk cans; the DeLaval Separator; DuPont Red Cross Stumping Powder explosives; HERCULES Pull Out Stumps; Galloway Bros. Alfalfa seeds; ONE MINUTE MAN. All in excellent condition to cherish for many years.

In 1915 one of my great-uncles bought a brand new Model T Ford. I have the original invoice, and a letter from the Ford Motor Company thanking him for buying one of their cars.

The price was $490 plus $35 freight. The letter included a voucher for a rebate of from $40 to $60 if Ford sold over 300,000 cars that model year. They did, and my great-uncle got a $50 rebate.
