Armstrong tires

Does anybody know if they are still made. Bought a tractor with a real good 13.6x38 and would like to find a match to it. thanks chris

Chris,

I recently bought a Farmall Cub with a brand new set of 9.5/9-24 Armstrongs on the rear. I am in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I"m pretty sure the tires came from here.

The tire molds from Armstrong now say Titan. Titan bought Armstrong and changed the names more than ten years ago. Any NOS Armstrong will probably be very stiff to mount. Except for the name, Titan tire tread pattern will probably match Armstrong tires.

Titan also owns Goodyear Ag tires but hasn't changed the name.

Armstrong first merged with Italian tire maker Pirelli. Pirelli sold the Armstrong division to Titan. Titan now advertises on RFD TV that they make all of Goodyear's ag tires.
It's hard to say where their tires were actually produced. Des Moines Ia is just about the ag tire capitol of the U.S. Firestone's ag tires are produced here. Firestone's global ag tire warehouse is here too. The former Pirelli-Armstrong plant is now operated by Titan on DSM's east side. Titan also operates a plant in Brownsville TX last I knew. There was a strike in DSM over Titan moving mold machinery out of DSM to TX.

A few years ago I put a new Titan 13.6x38 on my Oliver 770. Treadwise its a perfect match for the Armstrong thats on the other side. The only way to tell the difference is read the names on them.

JK-NY you're right about them matching, have a dealer in town that I bought some 12.4X38's and can't see any differences other than lettering. thanks chris

Yup, look for a Titan. One tractor has long bar short bar Armstrong's, the other has long bar short bar Titan's. Same tire, different name.
