White 2-105 Tractor Pulling

I was wondering if anyone knew how to turn up the fuel pump on a White 2-105 with a Perkins 354? I would like to pull with it a little bit at the local fair.

There are three other factors to take care of first before dialing up the injction pump.
They are traction, traction and traction.

We pulled it once already last year. Traction was not the issue. We definately got hold of the track, we just ran out of power.

Use a lower gear.
The final drives in those Whites were not known for being robust at stock HP levels. Now start luggig in the lower gears while on high traction track with greater than stock HP.................

If you have to ask you shouldn't be doing it !!! There are many more thing to consider than just making it smoke more. What are injectors like (crack pressure/pattern). The only way to do this properly is in a shop with a dyno !! You run the risk of washing the cylinders and galling the pistons/sleeves. You amatuer mechanics think a twist of the screw is all it takes to give more power!! The SYSTEMS are set as just that a system of pump, injectors, turbo, timing and compression, changing onee thing does little to improve and may possibly impair the functioning of the WHOLE SYSTEM.

Weak final drive in a 2-105? Really? Odd how our local scrap yard has a pile of complete transmissions and final drives still intact. The over/unders are more delicate, but gosh, I've been tinkering on these for years and don't remember ever seeing or hearing of one with a blown final drive.

I rembemer an old man in newville pa that pulled one. drove it in, pulled in farmstock and always kicked butt. used to farm everyday!

I agree. When guys repower the 50 and 55 series Ollies with the Cummins, they have to limit the HP to about 135 if they pull much, but not because of the rear end. That's about the most the chains can take under a constant pull. Rear ends can stand up to a whole lot more abuse.

take the oval 2 bolt plate off the pump there will be a round disc with 3 bolts i think it takes a 5/16 wrench. they are locted towards the top of the pump.loosten them a little so they are not tight. u will have to slowly rotate the engine to get at them all. there will be a notch in tht disc use an o ring pick to turn it,if my memory is good u slide it to the front of the tractor. u will know when u start it and hit the trottle fast. tighten the bolts, put ur plate on and go kill some deeres at the fair. the rearends are not known to be trouble. try turning up a john deere with quad range and shift it under a huge load.ull never worry about a white again lol!

Then when you get to the 2-135 through 2-180's, those are just flat out tanks. The most senior mechanic at McFarlanes in Sauk City that has 35 years of experience working on Whites/Olivers has never seen the inside of one of those final drives. Bullet proof!

A coupler that is BEFORE the transmission is a final drive. Hrmmmm, interesting. Doesn't sound all that "final" to me. I bet you'll get a puzzled look from a majority of folks with your unique terminology.

Oh, and 2-105's (and 2-85's) don't have chains so your statement still doesn't hold water. They have trunnion mounts which connect the over/under to the transmission via a oil lubricated splined coupler. You'll tear the center out of the clutch well before breaking the coupler.

Klein's tractor salvage always they could sell everything off of a ih or jd but after the front half was gone from an Oliver or White there was little call for the back half. They made a very good trans./ final drive. Explain your theory on lack of robustness on a white.

I think of the final drive as being inside the transmission, not a chain that couples the engine to the transmission. That being said, those rear ends can still handle a whole lot of power and not get tore up.

I've never heard of anybody complaining about a transmission in one of those getting tore up under stock HP, and not too many under more than stock either.

White's and Ollies around here have a very good rep for a stout trans.

Dont get mad but you are wasting your time. Whites can barely pull them selves around. Plus you will be pulling against guys with over 100 more cubic inches then you have.

john deere might consider a coupler chain a final drive but ive never broke a chain they get wore out or misalined a 2-105 has atrunyon which is bulletprufe we have run these tractors at 200hp and held up great
