In Southern Ill farmers were putting on Anhydrous and saw a farmer in Southern Ind disking in some manure. It was a pretty day Sat but a bit windy. I decided to take my ATV and spend the day taking soil samples. Some of my fields looked like they were almost dry enough to plant but of course its a bit too early. Anyone else doing or seeing field work? Also saw my first bobcat in early morn.

Three inches of mud over frozen ground.... Not yet here. Got the itching to get going, but not for another month yet.

Only way to plant anything around here would be to poke the seed in the mud with a stick. Got a ways to go yet.

No way it's gonna start here for a little while yet. IN the middle of a snow storm now, expecting 6-10 inches.

If we're lucky, in about a month I'l be able to put duals on our tractors and we can start thinking about hauling manure on the corn ground, and look at working the feilds going in hay.

We don't do a lot of farming just a litle tobacco and a little hay but, we were able to plow our 3 acre tobacco patch yesterday. 50 miles NNE of Louisville. Dry here for this early in the year!!

Bottom plowed most of the corn ground put nitrogen on oats and fertilized and bedded up watermelon field last week. 70s and sun shining today. Gnats are out too come on down and help us feedum.

No hope of field work anytime soon here in cen. IL. Friday I managed to get hay out for the cattle but it was a struggle. Lots of mud and frozen ground under the mud. In the last 36 hours we have had probably 3 inches of rain and more to come. Calling for colder weather next week and that will keep things wet for just that much longer.

We had 4 inches of snow this morning in NW Iowa.
Hope we can get started in a month. Friday was a nice day . made it to 60.

Us farmers in southern MN are a grouchy lot - forcast for below zero lows end of this week, lot of snow on the ground & frost is 2 feet deep in spots, maybe deeper.

We all got the itch from the thaw & slightly warmer temps a bit ago, but have a ways to go.

Would have liked to disc a couple of food plots and the garden, but it rained all weekend off and on. We have light ground for the most part. Time to gather soil samples.
