Jump starting td-9 positive ground

i AM HAVING TROUBLES STARTING MY TD-9 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM i NEED TO BE ABLE TO CRANK IT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME HOW DO i JUMP A POSITIVE GROUND SYSTEM WITH OUT MESSING UP MY TRACTOR OR MY TRUCK.
 
You always hook positive to positive and negative to negative. The only thing different is when mating two vehicles of opposite types do not let metal parts of the two vehicles touch each other. Only the cables.
 
But I don't understand why you have to crank it very long. Once over will tell you if you have spark. And You should be able to tell if you are getting gas to the carb without spinning it. If your troubles are on the diesel side don't you want to get it running on gas first?
 
Yes like Nebraska Cowman said ALWAYS jump Pos-Pos & Neg-Neg.

The way your battery is grounded to the vehicle has nothing to do with it.

If you hook your jumper cables up pos-neg and pos-neg you will be doubling your voltage and creating a dead short all at the same time. So you will have 24 volts going thru your jumper cables with a very hi amount of unknown amperage and it will melt something. Either the insulation off your jumper cables or melt the terminals on the battery if they don't blow up first.

One easy way to remember this is when you put batteries in a flash light they are postitioned positive to negative and it doubles the voltage. Each D-cell battery is 1.5 volts.
 
Always connect pos. cable from booster battery to pos. post on boosted vehicle and neg.post from booster battery to neg. post on boosted vehicle.
 
Just connect the positive to the positive and the negative to the negative. Gotta have the same voltage though.
 
Just to add, make sure no part of your neg ground truck (bumper, door,etc.) comes in contact with the pos ground TD9. As the others say, connect jumper cables pos to pos, and neg to neg.
