JD 224 baler transporting

Going to pick up a 224 baler this weekend. Anyone know the approx weight of that beast? I'm told the overall width is 8'1". The trailer deck is 7'. Is there enough wiggle room to cock the baler at an angle to get both tires on the deck and keep the chute at the back within legal width? Or is the baler tough enough to let the wheel hang off the trailer and rest on the frame if lifted on and off with a loader? Or other ideas? thanks
Nathan

Maize. When I brought an AC sq baler from Iowa to OK I used a car hauler and took the stubb axles and hubs off. I used 2 floor jacks to trolly it between the fender wells. Chained it down. Reversed the process to get it off. Worked slick. Dont know if a jd has removable stub axles tho HTH Tim

Hi Nathan, A few years back I transported my baler with thrower and SMV emblem approx. 150 miles. I checked with DOT first. By towing it I avoided a whole set of transport laws. I stopped for twenty minutes 3 times to check everything. with a little extra air the tires stayed cool and with a little extra grease the bearings did too. Good Luck!

Towed a Hesston round baler and chopper about 100 miles. Went 50 mph no problem. Also a RMH feed miser. Went a little slower with that one.

Check the tires, repack the wheel bearings, throw a set of mag lights on the back on go. Leave the trailer home.
balers tow just fine. I've towed a Ford 532 locally with a Ranger at 50 MPH, no problem.
