Cast Wheels

I notice the front wheels of almost all motorgraders and some industrial tractors are solid cast. Why is this?

Its like putting weight on the front end is my guess. I have an 04 Mc Cormick with solid front cast wheels. these tractors pulled heavy loads. the previous owner showed me a picture of my tractor pulling at a show, and the front end was off the ground.

Put it this way when you angle the blade on a grader it puts side preasure on the unit. I you did not have that weight up there the front end would just go sideways. It does in some cases anyway. But the answer to your question is for added weight to main tain control of the unit be it either grader or tractor.
