Utility vehicles

I'm thinking about buying a utility vehicle for the farm. The three I have in mind are Kawasaki 4010, Kubota RTV900, and John Deere Gator (not sure which model is comparable to the first 2 mentioned). Can anybody tell me where each is made? Overseas or in USA? What are the pros and cons of any or all of them? Thinking about getting a diesel, 4 wheel drive machine. Any other brands I should look at? Thanks in advance for your advice. Bill

I just got a Polaris Ranger, but at 40 miles can't really tell you too much. Like it so far. Didn't want diesel, I live in MN, this fuel injected gasser started great in minus 20 this winter....

Don't know if JD has improved things of late, back in the day they always came in last in all the side by side tests of these types of vehicles.

I doubt if they make a diesel I was impressed with the new Honda Big red. Looks much better in real life...just my opinion....

Go look at the rest of them and take them for a ride. Then go to your Polaris dealer. You will be surprised and probably end up with a Polaris.

The Kubota is made at Gainsville Ga. If that matters. What you shoul look at is the Power steering. Neither John Deer , the Mule or the poloris offer. No BRAINER WHEN YOU COMPARE PRICES.. dESIEL, WITH A ENCLOSED HYDROSTATIC
DRIVE ON THE KUBOTA. the other is waht they call a variable belt .. Just one mans opinion..Oh
I do own 3 of the rtv 900 kubotas love them.

Suzuki Samarai. 87 or older , carbureted.4 cyl gas 1100 cc. Better mileage, heat, radio, 4wd, hi-lo real tranfers case, 22 mpg off road, rides 5, tires last 10 years, can buy em for about 1800 dollars.Get the convert for the south and the wagon for the north.
I have one in front of my farmstead shed, and at least once every 10-15 days someone comes in and asks to buy it. Also is a great vehicle for neighbors big cattle drives twice a year.

The JD Gators are made in Horicon WI and have been getting good reviews in the atv magazines. They are available with a Yanmar diesel engine or Kawasaki gas engine.

Bud of mine runs a Nursery,,, has Kals and suk's only difference is the badge,,, I have a gas golf cart and don't know how I got along with out it,,, sold off the 4 wheelers

I have less than $1400 in the cart,,, spent $500 on the engine rebuild,,, I can sell it and make money,,, would B hard to do with a 8k ATV,,, the golf cart is EZ to work on and will haul 4 to 500 lbs of stuff with 2 grown men in the seat

I can have the engine are trans out and in , in about 30min and no harder to work on than a 5HP Briggs,,, cost of parts are a killer tho  but so are the others

I am look'n for another cart cheap,,, you can buy a kit to install a V twin B.S. are Honda engine in'em,,, power would b know problem

had a Polaris 6 wheeler...what a peice of junk. Poor electrics, puny suspension peices. I run bigger joints on kids swing sets than they ran on tie rods.
I now have an anceint Yamaha gas golf cart with deep V lug rear tires and ATV knobbies on the front, goes just about anywhere within reason and great for the feed runs.
Also use a Geo Tracker, auto w/ 4wd, not much bigger than the Polaris but has heat , AC, radio, and farm tags so I can run it on the road. It will go ANYWHERE- truly stupid off road. Great for toting 2 or 3 bales, pulling utility trailer w/ fence supplies and compressor, etc.
Got about $500 in the glf cart and about $800 in the tracker- I will NEVER again by a side by side UTV.
FYI- I heard that city of VA Beach tested UTVs for durability and landed on Club Car HD commercial golf carts w/ beds??
