I have a used 30 inch cable that has bad ends, could I cut out about 15 inches out of the middle for re-use.Cable seems good and copper looks clean except for ends.Dan

Sure, Cable that is good is just fine. If the insulation is brittle or punctured, I would not. Use solder on connections, and resin core solder. Then slide the shrink tubing over and heat to seal. JimN

I'm definitely will call you sometime... you seem to be a very knowledgeable person... St. Cloud really has it's shortcoming's.

Soldered on ends will break the cable an inch or two from the soldered on end. Solder wicks into the strands and makes the cable stiff. Good crimps last much longer. They are best with a sturdy hydraulic or power crimper. But bolted ends tend to not work well.

Ill stay with solder, acid gets in to crimp joints.Copper terminals can be had for battery connection.Heat shrink tubing works fine to seal connections.
