hydraulic freezing up

Anyone got any cures or additives to add to hydaulic oil to pervent freezing or dry up moisture?
Anyone ever tryed the gas de-icer with any success ?

You can get magnetic 110v heaters, stick them on and they warm up the oil a bit. At least the pump will circulate when the engine starts. If the oil is milky then you should change it. I'm going to try synthetic trans-hyd oil. It's not supposed to get as thick when the mercury drops.
 
dont use gasoline antifreeze use methol hydrate there is a difference i have used methol hydrate different times because oil is milky and that causes trouble at oil filters, there maybe fellows disagree, my pennies worth:>]
 
No doubt big argument will erupt with my comment. Methanol (methyl hydrate) (wood alcohol) is more likely to harm some metals than is isopropyl. Do not use rubbing alcohol, which is isopropyl, because the rubbing alcohol already has added to it about all the water it can absorb. Some auto stores offer both types of the additives. I think a little isopropyl might be a good temporary help.
