I recently acquired an old (Aermotor A-702) windmill head & would like to erect as a decoration (would NOT be used to pump water & the vane would be folded in). The problem is that the it appears that the oil collector bolt had been sheared off & as a result the wheel hub has slipped out (about 4") away on the main shaft. Upon further inspection while I was looking down the shaft, I noticed the end of the the housing was broke off. The good news (I think) is that it was NOT broke thru the end of the shaft where the oil collector bolt goes. Should I be worried about the wheel hub possibly falling off?
Since the windmill is just going to be for decoration, should I try to fix it? Not sure if I can since the oil collector bolt was sheared off & not sure if I can get it out. Or can I just some how anchor the head to the main frame? I just need to figure out if it is fixable & if not, how I can keep the wheel hub from falling off.
ANY help is greatly appreciated!
