Does anybody out there know sources for new or used universal belt driven govenors? Any experience with them? I remember they used to sell them for people who wanted to use car engines to run irrigation pumps. Think they were rather pricey new. I also have seen them used on couple old oddball tractors. And a small, cheap quality, but high priced one was used on old Gravelys. I want to use a car engine (that I already own) as a stationary engine, but it will need a govenor. Suggestions?

Have you found anything about govenors new or used? I have been looking and haven't seen much for my stationary power plant that runs my sawmill. The engine that runs the power plant is a dodge 225 slant six. Any info you can give would be greatfully appreciated, thanx.

Central Tractor catalogs a belt-drive universal governor kit. Kindy pricey though - about $150 if I recall. Another possibility is to go to a farm equipment boneyard and get one off a wreck. Many of the Case and Deere combines of the 50's - 70's powered with modified car engines used these governors.

So did some of the portable welders and generators. I just hauled one to the boneyard. I knew I should have kept it. I'll look the next time I'm down there to see if it got crushed yet.

Did you mean hoof not roof governor? If so I have a hoof governor model number, BD875L91316 which came off a ford industrial motor. I would like to know if the one you have will work for me and if so How much are you asking?
Thank You,
Eugene Beeson

Hi Eugene,

I'm also looking for a belt drive governor. If you found an inexpensive source, would you pass it along please? Thank you.
