Van Brunt Drill help

I am trying to find pictures on a Van Brunt drill that I am trying to help my grandfather paint. He thinks it is a model B. He is also trying to find what he thinks are called fertilizer feed plates. He also needs grass seed tubes and fertilizer feed tubes. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

If it is a model B drill then it has NO PLACE for anything to do with fertilizer, a B drill is seed only. Could it be a FB drill? The F in FB stands for fertilizer.

I think Leroy is right and I believe the number after it is the amount of seed holes like 13 or something like that it's been too long ago. That was John Deere's drill for years and I would check with an old Deere dealer.

for pictures-- try this sites "vintage photos" there is one there -- its an FB drill-- -- i did a google search and found lots of links

The new style rubber tubes were in stock at my local JD dealer. Price was acceptable.
Grass seed tubes are easily replaced using garden hose.

John Deere bought the Van Brunt company in 1911 so if the drill was built from that time on it's actually a John Deere. (They DID keep painting the Van Brunt name on the seed hoppers up into the 50's.)

If "F" or "FB" is the correct model # or you figure out the model # you can view and print out the parts catalog for free @ jdparts.com.

(Seems to me there is a model/serial # tag on the end of the hopper or the frame near one end of the machine.)

You can buy an operator's manual from Deere by phoning Deere Techpubs @ 1-800-522-7448.

If you ebay and are patient, you can probably pick up an owner's manual for a lot less on ebay.

Can't help with the fertilizer part, but the grass seed tubes are just pieces of hose that drop seed in front of the openers.Chris
