I lost a round bale from the 3 point. It was snowing and the bale was camouflaged with snow. A car hit it and only broke the mirror off and cracked the window. It could have been much worse.

IF U LOST IT OFF THE THREE POINT ? HOW HARD MUST IT HAVE BEEN SNOWING THAT U DID NOT NOTICE AND RETRIEV IT,IF SOME ONE HAD BEEN KILLED YOUR FARM AND EQIUPMENT WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY GONE TO THIER RELATIVES AFTER YOU WERE PUT IN JAIL FOR NEGLAGENCE, BE CAREFUL, OR WAS THIS IN YOUR DRIVE WAY?

Equipment does fail in this brutal cold weather, I broke a tine on my bale fork in a field and it dropped the bale. Was hauling 4 at a time on a trailer and had just loaded one on before it broke while I was trying to pick up a badly frozen down bale that I made the mistake of dumping from the baler on the high side of a terrace that I didn't think would hold the water and snow it does. I knew I had a crack in the fork that snapped, but thought it would move the last 8 bales. Assume nothing works right or holds together in this crappy weather. DOUG

Last summer I lost a 4X5 Round bale off of a haywagon (rolled off the top...) was on back country one lane rd. Didnt notice untill I was back at the farm to unload. Went looking for it, never found it...oh well. The next day, neighboor calls "I have something of yours, and I cant get out of my driveway" ????? I go to look. Neighboor lives down in the "hollar", and round bale rolled down his driveway out of sight.

I've hauled many a bale with the three point, and I know from experience that if the bale drops off, the tractor can go quite a distance before the driver notices. No human is 100% alert 100% of the time. Jim

I figure you all must have BIG tractors or a very small round bales.

On my tractor Ford 3930 you would definitely feel a 1000lbs less on the rear the instant it dropped off.

When your on the road. You sure can be 100% aleart. You have to be.
I know I would be p'oed if I can over a hill and ran into a bale.

I was nervous about that yesterday. The snow had pretty well melted and things were froze up hard as a rock,so I hauled the last 68 bales of corn stalks out of the field. There wasn't any give to them when I stacked'em on the trailer and they rolled awful easy. Was just afraid they would come tumbling off the back of the trailer. Got lucky.
