OT: Snow plows for trucks. Opinions welcome

As soon as the Chevy 3500 is up and running again I have decided to make and economic stimulus purchase for an American made snow plow for the truck. Running around with a skid loader or tractor and blower is a waste when there is a small amount of snow. So can I get some recommendation's or testimonials from ya all. I am only familiar with BOSS V- Plows.

had a Boss V bought a Western V bought a Boss V and will keep it lot better made then the Western but do also have a Western straight plow that is better then Meyers Western is a lot stronger. so have three plow trucks with 2 boss Vs and one western straight

I run a Western straight 7.5' with the micro-switch joy stick.Real happy with it.

I service plows for a couple customers and most have Westerns.

i have three meyers plows all e60 pumps on ton trucks newest one is 4 years old no major problems. no v plows i plow for someone.it doesnot pay any more for a v blade. i get 70 per hour what do you guys get per hour.

three power stroke trucks, with two ultamount and one unimount western. I will replace the uni with an ultra when I find a deal, but all work great.

I have an old Meyers - bought it from a guy's front yard sale, years ago. A frame was reinforced by a blacksmith, and unit is heavier than you know what. I spent a lot of time fixing and rebuilding, built my own mount, and powered it with a Monarch electric/hydraulic lift. Works OK for me, considering that I got it fairly cheap. I would not buy another Meyers. They don't have enough curve, and tend to push the snow instead of rolling it. I even added a heavy piece of industrial belting across the top to help roll the snow. What I am really wanting is a Curtiss plow. Look like very well made.

I run a Boss v-plow and love it, would not go back to a straight blade. It's 6 years old and not one problem. Western makes a good plow too. Just sold the oldest one, 10 year old Western 8' and no problems the entire time, just yearly fluid changes.

Our family has been plowing for many years(40+). My dad has had Western, Myers, and Curtis on his personal trucks. His personal favorite is the Curtis. Very nice unit. Bought an 8' plow for the 1st one. He's had it 8 yrs. and liked it so much that he just bought a 9' to put on his new truck. These are one tough plow. PS. We only plow a little here, 19-20 hrs. straight per snow fall between commercial and residential.

NOt sure on your dealers around you, but I have had a Hiniker C plow on my truck now for 4 seasons, and knock wood, not a bit of trouble, it is electric over hydraulic, and is truly a minute mount plow, I pull up the the plow line up the brackets , drive into it , get out lock the plow in place, hook up 3 lines and away I go,,

I love the C plow as it curls down and you can really clean out in front of the barn and garages doors easily, I like mine, <a href="http://s49.photobucket.com/albums/f297/maplehillfrm/?action=view¤t=Feb23_26.jpg" target="_blank">

I run a Meyers C-8, which is an 8' straight blade on a 1986 Chevy K-20. The truck came home new from the dealer with the plow on it. After more than 20 years of plowing snow, the only thing done so far to the plow was to change the motor about 5 years ago. This may be the last year though-not enough steel left in the cab to hold the floor up or keep the snow out and not much left to weld or fiberglass to. However, LMC sells all the replacement panels I need, I have a mig welder, and it would make a nice summer project.

We have a Meyers plow that has been very good. I think it was 2003 when we bought it new. We've had it on a 1999 F250 Ford, and now on a 1995 1/2 ton GMC. It is nothing fancy, just a 7 1/2 foot hydro turn blade, but it is very nice on cold days with those 2-6 inch snows. I can think of a few times where the trucks came to a quick halt due to deep drifts, but it never bent or broke anything on the plow. More than 6 inches and we usually use the blower just so the piles don't get so high in the yards.
