Strongest pulling tractor

Hi Guys
Just thought I would ask your opinion and experience on which of the big 1960's or 70's tractors were best at pulling heavy equipment. Models that come to mind would be JD 5020/6030, 830 Case 1030, Ford 9600, Allis Chalmers 7080, MF 1150/1155/2805, MM 1355, Oliver 2255, White 2180, International V8 etc. I would also be interested in your thoughts on how these older two wheel drive tractors perform when compared with modern 4x4 models of similar horse power or for that matter the 4x4 Ford County models produced some years ago.I am only really interested on their pulling and wheel gripping ability.
Thanks
Bill

International Super M hands down, in it"s ear it was the HEMI car of the day . In the pulling circle it is still a top tractor after all these years.

How many other tractors after all these years are as strong as this , not many ....

5020 was a gutless, no torque dog, I plowed alot with one, super M is a nose heavy , 1468 was a joke, for good ones late 60's and 70's IH 856/1256, Case 13/1570, Deere 4640, early 60's Case 8/930, 806 IH Case was hard to beat for engine durability and fuel economy,4010/20 JD had nice operator features, no Counties around here

I'd imagine that the County's would outpull anything in their power class in terms of tieing power to the ground. That's just a simple matter of tires and weight.
They no doubt left a lot to be desired in other departments though.

I'd also think that just about any of the modern MFWD tractors would make the old ones look like a bad joke when they're properly set up and ballasted. Again, weight and radial rubber.

I liked the old G too it was the first tractor I ever drove. The neighbor always told my dad it out pull the 560 diesel on a dead pull, but dad disagreed. So when my brother dug the G down with a load of silage behind and dad pulled him with the 560 he never gave my brother a chance to get the G in gear, he pulled the G and the load of silage out of the holes and up the hill. Big old articulate 4x4's are really hard to beat for what they can do. Yes they are hard to keep up and expensive to fix and lots of people call them yard ornaments now but they sure can do a lot of pulling when they are in their element. I like the Whites like this 4-180. The confidence they give you when it starts getting wet out makes a big difference. In dry conditions they don't have much advantage over a big 2wd. In fact 2wd's are smoother riding and usually quieter than the big old clunky 4x4's but when it starts getting greasy and you have fall tillage to get done. 4x4 hands down!

Very true. I have put a lot of hours on our Super M and it really has been a tough old brute. Always starts and finshes the job with no problems in between. I honestly don't think that tractor has ever had to be towed back to the barn ever. Very strong and simple heavy duty drivetrain. Been a real workhorse around here for a long time. I am quite sure it still has the original clutch in there too. Dad rebuilt the engine about 25 years ago and it has been used hard every year and never uses any oil, runs cool and pulls very strong.
