OT Trip to New Hampshire

We made it to Porstmouth last weekend and home safely. Lots of color left in trees, but we did miss the peak. Went to the commissioning of the New Hampshire and it was awesome. Afterwards our son took us inside for a tour. Quite cramped conditions, not sure I could do it. Drove around some and saw some sights. Went aboard the USS Albacore. Son went with us and he was glad the new sub has much more room! Drove down the coast to New Hampton, and ate lobster at Petey's. Glad we went. Chris

Me too!! I know you are proud of his service. Glad the trip went OK. I have a cousin in New Hampshire who is also a tractor restorer and collector. Beautiful country!

Wow ! look at those medals on this jacket. Thank you for sharing. You and your family MUST me VERY Proud of him.

I was stationed in portsmouth for three years and loved it, what a great little town. Glad to see the navy is still there.

There's alot of folks out there who can take pride in their childrens' service, so congrats, Dad.

I assume that's his wife and mom with your son?

I'm glad the Albacore was open and your son was able to go through it with you -- kinda what I was hopin' mind when I suggested it, and his reaction is about what I expected.

Glad, too, that you had a good trip, and I wish your son a safe return, as well, from his voyages.

Thank him for me too. Very brave man! I saw my first Lanze(sp)JD on a trip to Portsmouth. It seemed a bit out of place as there aren't many farms in that area. It was on a trailer in town.

God Bless, DW

Your son is definitely someone to be proud of. Nice pic.

Spent 6 months in Portsmouth installing machinery at Davidson Instrument Panel, now Textron I think. Beautiful part of the country to spend time at. Especially with the company picking up the tabs.

Good looking sailor!! Bet you are proud. My son is on a frigate. He recently got his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specalist pin. Is that the Submariners equivalent I see on your sons uniform?

Thanks, Gene

Thanks for the positive comments, Yes, that's his wife and mother with him. I had a sailor take a picture of all of us, but it didn't come out. The silver pin is his Mahe mahe dolphins, I probably spelled it wrong. When you EARN that pin, it means you know everything about the boat and don't have to take unrealistic orders from anyone higher in rank that don't know what they are doing(thats what I was told). He also owns a plank on the boat. Thanks again, Chris
