806 break leaking

I have a IH 806 that has a leaking break. When I get done using it and turn it off I see hydraulic fluid dripping from what I believe is the break. I think that it must have a bad seal or something. Do I just open the break or do I have to drain the fluid first? How hard is it to fix this? It has a cab on it so it looks like it might be a PIA to work on the break.

Thank You

A break might be hard to fix, but if its leaking from the (brake) housing a kit can be bought from your local IH dealer, and its not that bad to overhaul.

We have an 826 that was leaking around the brake. An easy thing to check is the line feeding the brake. If it is the same as the 826 it comes off the top of the housing, has a 90 degree turn, then about a 70 degree turn down into the pump, or vice versa. Our line had a small crack in the line, very hard to see so look at it in the sunlight. Actually had two cracks, one vertically and one horizontaly. IH took $47 for a new one.

Good luck.

I was told that also, but the line is dry ( no fluid on it or the black dusty cr@p). I am thinking that the brake housing is leaking, so I will start form there.

Thank You for the help

You likly need to install a seal kit. Easy job. Pull the brake drum off and pull out the discs and seperater plate. Pull out the back plate with the piston in it. CAREFULLY pop the piston out with air pressure. Clean everything up and install the two new orings on the piston and reinstall it. Install the new pinon seal in the center of the rear plate, reset the auto adjusters and put it all back together. Bleed the air from the system and your done. If you need step by step details with pictures get yourself a I&T service manual for your tractor.
