Turboing up a 560 Farmall

It was a big thing after the 560's came out, and as I recall it was M&W.

I don't know if you could still buy new or if you'd have to scour salvage yards.

Neighbor has a turbo on his. He just uses it for raking hay and other lite jobs. I don't think the rear end would stand up to heavey use. That was a week spot on them.

I'd have to look in my Big Book of Farmall, but I think I read that a turbo was available for high altitude operation. Like others said, wouldn't want to turn one up for plowing, etc. Rear ends were at their limits or maybe a little above right out the factory.

That sounds good. I would like to know where to get a turbo for one now. lol. They seem impossible to locate. at least in my area. I would like to turn one up to pull with a couple times a year.

Seems to me like the ih 560 used a d 282 6 cy if that is so you could find a td9b ih crawler engine otr turbo set up. Lots of the td9b s were sold with turbo. Several coments about rear end as I recall we never had a lot of rear end failure. Should,n be too big of deal to add 10 to 15 h.p. by the turbo and fuel screw.

The way I've heard it the only turbo that the motor would last very long with was the factory turbo that I understand was a dealer installed option for high altitude operation. But I wouldn't consider putting even one of them on my 560, there are enough head problems without a turbo and good heads are hard to find. Lee

I just finished putting one on my 560. Shoot me an email and I might be able to help you out as it is a little tricky getting everything to fit just right. We also have one that has the td-9 setup on it. Havent had any problems with it in over 35 years. Used daily up until last winter.
